The cruise ship's profile was something to behold in downtown Nanaimo on Saturday.
We first caught a glimpse of the Norwegian Pearl in the morning, as my wife drove south on Terminal Avenue toward the city centre.
The majestic ship was an impressive sight. She dwarfed older buildings and stood out against the highrises of Nanaimo's skyline, partially obscuring the outline of Protection Island on the horizon.
My wife and I reacted simultaneously: "Look at that!" Neither of us expected the ship to be so big. It looked like a floating city.
When we got downtown we saw all the people.
It made me realize just how much potential these ships can have for igniting a new excitement in our downtown.

IKEA and prefab housing?
I believe their is a market for prefab homes and who better to do it then Ikea. Prefab seems to have the perfect recipe for cost, environmental impact and sustainability. And the news seem to overload there website.

I always say we live in a playground with everything imaginable just steps from your back door. Living on Vancouver island with the mildest climate in Canada we are lucky to be able to enjoy every imaginable outdoor activity. Surfing, Skiing, golfing, Mtn Climbing hiking the endless parks and the list goes on. So it is always nice to point out when others take notice as well. USA Travel recognizes that 2 of the top 10 spots in BC for camping are right outside our door.

We are all trying to eat healthly and keep up with our New Years resolution. When I saw my wife watching this video it looked interesting so I thought I would pass it along. In Nanaimo we have many high quality grocery stores that offer a variety of food.
