The name is a little misleading because although this neighbourhood is called Central Nanaimo, it isn’t actually the centre of the city. The neighbourhood is closer to the Old District and the South end than it is to the North End. However access to shopping malls and schools is relatively easy. Central Nanaimo is a well-established neighbourhood so most of the homes are older style and some many need to be renovated but prices are still reasonable for first-time home buyers. There are also several condo buildings in the neighbourhood. What makes this neighbourhood so attractive is its proximity to the Nanaimo Regional Hospital. The area is also in close proximity to several parks, which include: Beach Estates Park, Beban Park, Bowen Park and Buttertubs Marsh.
