What makes Divers Lake so attractive is that it is one of the central neighbourhoods in Nanaimo, which means everything is relatively close to the north end with all the schools and newer shopping areas and the south end with all the cultural amenities. The two major highways in the city, the Nanaimo Parkway and Island Highway run through the entire neighbourhood so transportation around the city is relatively easy.  Housing prices are relative reasonable in the area so it makes it ideal for new homeowners. The neighbourhood is named after the small lake located in the northern part of the area. The lake is a nice place to outdoor enthusiasts who like bird watching and hiking. Aside from the lake, Camcrest Park is an interesting park located in the Northern section of the neighbourhood. Across the highway in Uplands, residents also have relatively easy access to Loudon Park and Walkway, which is on the South side of Long Lake.
